Year 3

Dear Parents and Carers,

A very happy New Year to you all! We would firstly like to take this opportunity to thank the pupils, parents and carers for the lovely gifts and cards received at the end of last term. They were very much appreciated, particularly the lovely messages in cards. We do hope that you have had an enjoyable break spent with family and friends; we can see that your children have rested well over the holidays and have returned to school with a renewed vigour to learn and achieve.

Back to school is an exciting time for celebration and taking new steps on our school journey. As part of our new steps I would like to take the time to welcome Miss Lee to Year 3 and hope the cold doesn’t scare her off!

Miss Bailey and Miss Lee

As part of our topic ‘Tombs, Temples and Treasures’ topic, Year 3 held an ‘Egyptian Day’ on Tuesday. We had a fantastic Creative time and the children transformed themselves into ancient Egyptians with their fantastic costumes (many thanks to their parents!). They then welcomed the brilliant Goddess Isis who sped them through time to find out more about life in Egypt in ancient times including unravelling the secrets hidden in an ancient Egyptian scroll. We discovered how a Pharaoh would journey to the afterlife. Unfortunately, even with our amazing chanting he didn’t make it!

During the day, we carried out different craft activities including, finding out how the Ancient Egyptians used hieroglyphics to communicate and designed a cartouche for a Pharaoh!

We finished off the day with a fantastic mummy competition. As you can see we all had a great day!

Congratulation to Year 3 on an amazing class assembly last week. Thank you so much to all the parents, friends and family members who took the time to come to our assembly. We were quite nervous, as it was the first one we had done for a while, so it was lovely to have an enthusiastic audience there. We enjoyed showing you how much we have learnt about the Christian journey with Jesus through the year. I think you will agree the children sang beautifully and we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
